Improvements to state highways in the northeastern part of Tarrant County will require the relocation of City of Fort Worth water and sewer lines as part of the North Tarrant Express project. The overall project area is bound by Eagle Parkway to the north, Old Denton Road to the east, Hwy 287 at I-35W to the south and the city of Haslet to the west.
This project is in Fort Worth Council District 4 and Fort Worth Council District 10. The limits for Segment 3C are US 81 Service Road/Hwy. 287 north - at the southern end - to to just north of Eagle Parkway, at Heritage Parkway. The City of Haslet is to the west. Construction will impact Westport Parkway, Golden Triangle Boulevard and Heritage Trace Parkway.
In June 2009, the Texas Department of Transportation entered into a 10-year agreement with North Tarrant Express Mobility Partners to identify and construct highway improvements in the northeastern part of Tarrant County, including parts of Interstate 35W, Interstate Hwy. 820, and State Highway 183 corridors within the city of Fort Worth.
In June 2023 Fort Worth City Council approved an engineering agreement for design oversight and project management of the North Tarrant Express Segment 3C, Interstate I-35W and US 81/287 to Alliance Boulevard.
