The February 2021 deep freeze caused power failures at the Eagle Mountain Water Treatment Plant, the Westside Water Treatment Plant and the North Holly and South Holly Water Treatment plants. The city also experienced power supply and freezing issues at some of the pump stations.
This project provides for backup generators at the Westside Treatment Plant, located on Old Weatherford Road, west of Chapel Creek Boulevard and east and north of Mary’s Creek.
The project scope includes the construction, installation and startup services for two diesel backup generators. Also part of the contract are foundations and platforms for each, and ducting and electrical equipment.
Emergency preparation plans for power generators at the North and South Holly Water Treatment plants are also in the scope.
The Westside Water Treatment Plant is located in the City of Fort Worth's extra-territorial jurisdiction (ETJ) and is surrounded by Fort Worth Council District 7. Construction may impact the Old Weatherford neighborhood association area.
