The Fort Worth Water Department's mission is to provide safe and reliable water and wastewater service with environmental integrity to the customers and wholesale cities we serve.
Twice per week watering always in effect
Even though Stage 1 drought measures ended on May 18, outdoor watering requirements for Fort Worth Water customers do not change.
The same watering schedule remains in effect. In April 2014, the Fort Worth City Council adopted maximum twice per week watering as a year round conservation measure.
In addition, the prohibition, adopted in 2007, on no watering between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. remains in effect.
EcoScape Residential Landscape Contest
Think you know someone with a beautiful summer landscape? Talk to them about Water’s EcoScape landscape contest. We want to know about all those creative, attractive and water efficient lawns out there –who knows they may win big!
The contest runs from June 14 to August 16 and will be judged on three key criteria:
- Design – aesthetic appeal; composition; use of color and plant variety;
- Water Conservation – efficient irrigation/water use; use of non-vegetative materials such as fences, walls, walks, etc.; use of native and/or adapted plants; reduced turf area; and use of mulches; and
- Appropriate Maintenance – healthy landscape, no weeds; plants pruned as appropriate.
