The airport received its current name, Meacham International Airport, in 1995 and today it has grown into one of North Texas‘ premier general aviation facilities. It currently occupies 880 acres and features two runways, 88 buildings, 1.55 million square feet of hangar space, three full-service fixed base operators, aircraft maintenance facilities, flight schools and two aviation museums.
The facility has also been the recipient of several awards in recent years, including the Fort Worth Business Press‘ Smart Moves Award in 2014, and one of the state‘s highest aviation recognitions — the Texas Aviation Convention‘s Reliever Airport of the Year Award — in 2013 following a major storm that caused damage to both aircraft and hangars, and threatened to disrupt operations without the ‘round-the-clock efforts of airport personnel.
