Comment on two plans related to public art

The Fort Worth Art Commission welcomes Fort Worth residents to comment on the Draft Public Art Plan for the 2022 Bond Program and the Draft Public Art Fiscal Year 2023 Annual Work Plan at 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 19, at the Fort Worth Community Arts Center, 1300 Gendy St.

The Art Commission’s recommendations on both plans will be presented to City Council on Sept. 20.

By city ordinance, the amount for public art allocated in the 2022 Bond Program is set at 1% in Proposition A (streets and mobility infrastructure), and 2% in Propositions B-D (parks and recreation, library and fire and police improvements), for a total of $7,102,000.

The Draft Public Art Plan for the 2022 Bond Program identifies specific locations and budgets for public art projects in each proposition and was developed based on criteria including geographic equity, visibility, accessibility for community engagement and opportunities for local artists.

The Draft Public Art Fiscal Year 2023 Annual Work Plan includes 44 new and ongoing public art projects totaling more than $13 million from various funding sources, including the 2022 Bond Program.  In addition, the plan includes collection management projects, as well as community engagement and Fort Worth Public Art administrative initiatives.

Both the Public Art Plan for the 2022 Bond Program and the Public Art Fiscal Year 2023 Annual Work Plan are available on the Fort Worth Public Art website.

Fort Worth residents are invited to review the plan and comment at the public hearings or submit written comments, in advance, via email.
