Submit a Recognition Request

City of Fort Worth Mayor & Council recognitions include Letters of Recognition, Certificates of Recognition, and Proclamations.

Recognitions are intended to honor and celebrate special events or to increase awareness of programs and people that make Fort Worth special.

Recognitions are ceremonial in nature and are issued by the Mayor and/or a City Council Member. The Mayor and/or City Council Members may decline to consider any recognition request or edit proposed recognition text to reflect the City’s vision, mission, and values.

All recognition requests should:

  • Be made by a City of Fort Worth resident or an organization based in Fort Worth.
  • Be submitted at least 30 days prior to the date the requestor wishes to receive the recognition.

Types of recognition requests

1. Letter of Recognition

  • Issued by the Mayor or by a Council Member
  • Examples of what letter requests may be considered for:
    • In celebration of achievements or in recognition of individuals or organizations for their accomplishments
    • In recognition of individual birthdays, anniversaries, retirements, professional celebrations, and award recipients

2. Certificate of Recognition

  • Issued by the Mayor or by a Council Member
  • Examples of what Certificates of Recognition requests may be considered for:
    • In celebration of achievements or in recognition of individuals or organizations for their accomplishments
    • In recognition of individual birthdays, anniversaries, retirements, professional celebrations, and award recipients

3. Proclamation

  • Issued by the Mayor and the full City Council
  • Examples of what Proclamation requests may be considered for:
    • Individual Birthdays 100 years or greater
    • Local city events
    • Statewide, national, or international groups hosting events within the City of Fort Worth with an in-city sponsor
    • Local business milestones
  • Proclamation requests will not be considered for:
    • Matters more appropriate for Certificates or Letters of Recognition
    • Matters of political, ideological, religious controversy or individual conviction
    • Events or organizations with no direct relationship to the City of Fort Worth
    • Campaigns, events, or organizations contrary to the City’s policies or values
    • Annual proclamations (will instead honor anniversaries like 5th, 10th, 15th, etc.)
    • Advertising or commercial promotion
